The combination has been a favorite of many Washington fans over the years. However, under the reign of former team president Bruce Allen, the combination was forgotten as Allen preferred any combination that included gold pants.
Washington brought back the combination in 2020 for the first time since 2009. Head coach Ron Rivera would say he was saving the combination for a “big game.” That big game was Washington’s upset win at then-undefeated Pittsburgh in December.
“I was looking for a big game,” Rivera said in December, per Peter Hailey of NBC Sports Washington.
“We saved it; we alerted our people. We didn’t tell the players. It’s funny because, when they came in and saw it, you could hear the excitement in their voice, too. It was kind of neat. It’s interesting because a lot of things are happening, you see the excitement, and that’s great.”
It’s safe to say, Washington’s players love the white-on-white uniform combination.
Some may consider Washington’s meeting with the Giants on Thursday, in prime time, a big game.
