Just how big of a statement was the win?

Following the Boston Celtics’ 128-111 shorthanded victory over the Orlando Magic at TD Garden on Friday night, a game that turned into a blowout win largely due to the exceptional performance of their bench players when the big man rotation was out of commission.

That bench mob contributed 47 points from players who had seen sporadic action earlier in the NBA’s 2023-24 season. Since then, some questions have arisen about the significance of this win, especially after some comments to that effect from star forward Jaylen Brown postgame that framed it as the best of the season.
