Warriors were given 0.1% chance to win the title before season started

The Golden State Warriors were given just a 0.1% chance to win the title before the 2021-22 season began.

Before the 2021-22 season, the Golden State Warriors had missed the playoffs for two consecutive seasons. They had dealt with a ton of injuries to Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and others and it held them back after they fell in the finals in 2019.

Therefore, even with everybody back in the fold and healthy, the oddsmakers did not give them much of a chance to do much in the 2021-22 season.

According to ESPN’s FiveThirtyEight, the Warriors were predicted to finish the season at 36-46 and were given just a 0.1% chance of winning the title before the season began. After knocking off the Boston Celtics in Game 6 to win the title on Thursday, Golden State destroyed those odds in a big way.

In the process of it all, Curry took home his first Finals MVP award after not winning the award in any of Golden State’s previous three title runs. The Warriors are NBA champions once again for the fourth time in eight seasons and they should earn the respect of everybody in this game.
