Warriors waive Dwayne Sutton following training camp appearance

The Warriors on Friday waived rookies Dwayne Sutton and Kaleb Wesson and forward Axel Toupane.

On Friday, the Golden State Warriors waived rookies Dwayne Sutton and Kaleb Wesson and forward Axel Toupane, the team announced in a press release.

Sutton, who went undrafted out of Louisville, totaled two points, three rebounds, one steal and one assist in two preseason games. His two points came on a fast break dunk on Tuesday in which he posterized Sacramento Kings guard Robert Woodard II.

The play started to unfold when Warriors rookie Nico Mannion ripped the ball away from Kyle Guy. Mannion started sprinting toward the other end of the floor and hit Sutton, who did the rest of the work.

The waiving of Sutton was expected after the Warriors signed him to an Exhibit 10 contract. He will likely spend time in the G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors, though his exact role will be determined given the uncertainty surrounding the G League season.

Meanwhile, Toupane posted averages of 2.5 rebounds and one block in 7.7 minutes in two games while Wesson averaged 1.7 points and two rebounds in 6.1 minutes over three games. Toupane and Wesson are also signed to Exhibit 10 contracts.
