Warriors’ Steph Curry named Western Conference Player of the Month for May

After torching the Grizzlies for 46 points to end the season, Steph Curry was named the Western Conference Player of the Month for May.

To cap off the end of the regular season, Steph Curry led the Golden State Warriors past the Memphis Grizzlies with a blazing 46 point effort to notch the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference play-in tournament.

Along with a spot in the play-in tournament, Curry was crowned the scoring champ for the 2020-21 campaign, averaging 32 points per game on 48.3% shooting from the field.

Following Sunday, Curry continued to collect hardware. The seven-time All-Star guard was named the Western Conference Player of the Month for May. 

Over eight games in May, Curry averaged 36.8 points on 45.2% shooting from the field and 39.3% from beyond the arc. The 33-year-old point guard tallied over 40 points in three games in May. Curry tacked on 5.6 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 34.6 minutes per game.

Curry led the Warriors to a 7-1 record in May, including a six-game win streak to end the regular season.

With Curry winning the award in April and May, he became the first member of the Warriors to be named Player of the Month in consecutive frames.

Despite the accolades, the Warriors will need more magic from Curry in May during the play-in tournament. On Wednesday, Curry and the Warriors will travel to Hollywood to meet LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers in the play-in game.
