The Golden State Warriors have been a thorn in Chris Paul’s side throughout his career. No love has been lost between Paul and Golden State’s dominant trio of stars in recent years. Previously, Draymond Green has even publicly admitted to not liking Paul.
However, the veteran guard is now part of Golden State’s roster, and all eyes will be on how quickly Paul acclimates himself to their style of play, along with building relationships with his new teammates. During a recent appearance on ‘The Pat Bev Podcast,’ Green discussed his previous relationship with Paul before noting how he’s looking forward to getting to know him better and moving forward as teammates.
“Everyone’s like, ‘How they supposed to be teammates now?’ And I’ll tell you how. No. 1, I’ve never been in the situation really to build a relationship with him,” Green said. “…There’s no sugarcoating what’s happened all these years. This is real life… I publicly said I didn’t like Chris before. I’m not going to just be like, ‘Oh, man, that changed now that he’s my teammate.’ No. I look forward to talking amongst men… Chris is a pro. I’m looking forward to going to work with a pro. He’s super smart and he’s shown to be a great leader.”
Paul and the rest of the Warriors roster will need to put their previous differences behind them if they want to challenge for a championship next season. Fortunately, Golden State’s roster is littered with veterans, who are all trying to cement their legacy by adding another championship to their resume; as such, Paul will likely fit right in as he chases the first ring of his career.
