Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr on Friday said that rookie James Wiseman will not play on Saturday versus the Charlotte Hornets as he continues to rehab from a sprained left wrist injury.
The Warriors are hopeful that Wiseman can return to play at some point during its upcoming four-game road trip beginning Friday in Orlando. Wiseman said this week that he is making good progress in his recovery and has started dribbling and shooting again in practice.
Kerr said that Wiseman will be re-evaluated on Sunday after the team plays the Hornets. The Warriors have two days off before facing the New York Knicks on Tuesday so Wiseman could potentially be ready to play at that point.
Wiseman, in 20 games this season, is averaging 12.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks. He ranks fifth in scoring average among all rookies while he is second in rebounding.
