On Friday, the Golden State Warriors announced that they assigned rookie Moses Moody to the Santa Cruz Warriors, their affiliate in the NBA G League.
Golden State opted to send Moody to Santa Cruz after playing sparingly through their first five games of the season. He has logged just three appearances with the Warriors, totaling two points, two rebounds and two assists in 10 minutes.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said Moody will play with Santa Cruz in their preseason season opener on Friday versus Capitanes de la Ciudad de México. They will recall him afterward and he will be available to play on Saturday against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Kerr detailed what he expects to see from Moody with Santa Cruz.
Just making good decisions, doing the right thing at both ends and being solid, which I fully expect. He has done that throughout camp. He is mature beyond his years as a human being and as a player so I would be shocked if he didn’t go out there and make good decisions. It’s mostly about getting him reps since he hasn’t been able to play much with us yet.
The opportunity to play with Santa Cruz will serve as a great chance to get some run after seeing limited minutes to start the season. He will likely play a few games with Santa Cruz throughout the year, which should only help his development.
