Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga notches 20 points in 25 minutes off the bench vs. Nets

Despite their disappointing loss to the Nets, Sunday’s contest marked another impressive performance from Jonathan Kuminga off the bench.

Despite their late collapse on the way to a disappointing loss to the Brooklyn Nets, Sunday’s contest marked another impressive performance from second-year forward Jonathan Kuminga.

After missing seven games due to a right foot sprain he suffered against the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 30, Kuminga made his return to the rotation in Friday’s shorthanded win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In his second game back from injury, Kuminga fueled a strong performance from Golden State’s second unit against Brooklyn. The sophomore forward tallied 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field with three boards in 25 minutes.

Kuminga was one of three members to score in double-figures off the bench. Behind the former lottery pick, the Warriors’ bench outscored the Nets’ bench 50-21.

Sunday’s contest against the Nets was the second time this season Kuminga has tallied 20 or more points. Kuminga’s season-high came against the Utah Jazz on Dec. 7 with 24 points in 29 minutes.
