Ahead of the 2020 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors have reportedly met with prospects LaMelo Ball and James Wiseman on Zoom, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

Teams have been prohibited from speaking with or working out prospects in person due to the coronavirus pandemic and can only virtually meet with players at this time. The schedule surrounding the NBA Draft has been unclear due to the outbreak but teams and prospects were given more clarity on Thursday.

The NBA announced that the tentative date for the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery will be on Aug. 25 while the Draft will take place on Oct. 15. For a team like the Warriors, who are projected to select near the top of the draft, they will have more than a month to prepare for the draft following the lottery.

Ball and Wiseman are each projected to be selected early in the draft, with both prospects in the conversation to be the No. 1 pick. However, should the Warriors land the top pick, Ball may not be a lock to go to the Bay as the Warriors are reportedly not high on him as a prospect.

Of course, the Warriors’ apparent lack of interest in Ball could be just a smokescreen as the team likely still wanted to do its homework on Ball and meet with him before the draft.

In any case, the resumption of the 2019-20 season means teams and prospects can begin to properly prepare for the NBA Draft after months of uncertainty.
