Golden State Warriors draftee Gui Santos on Friday erupted for a career high in the NBA G League to lead the Santa Cruz Warriors in a loss to the Stockton Kings.
Santos produced 31 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three assists in the 113-112 target score decision in overtime at Kaiser Permanente Arena. He finished by shooting 11-of-18 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, in 36 minutes of work.
The performance was the first time Santos scored at least 20 points in a game this season in 19 appearances. It was only the ninth time Santos reached double figures with Santa Cruz as the 20-year-old easily put up his best outing of the season.

Santos, who was born in Brasilia, Brazil, was the 55th pick by the Warriors. He appeared with the team in summer league before joining Santa Cruz in the G League. He will likely spend the season in Santa Cruz as a stash option in order to get adjusted to NBA competition.
The 6-foot-8 forward played last season with Minas in both the Brazilian Basketball League and Basketball Champions League America. He averaged 10.5 points, five rebounds and 2.2 assists and was one of 13 players invited to play with the 2021 Nike Hoop Summit World Team.
The team opted to keep Santos in the U.S. this year to keep him close and develop within its system. He has shown promise as a versatile, athletic forward and could have the opportunity to eventually compete for a roster spot next year.
