Before the start of the 2020-21 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors are bringing back Juan Toscano-Anderson on a two-way contract.
On Saturday, the Warriors waived the Bay Area native on the final roster cutdown day. On Tuesday, Golden State added Toscano-Anderson with their final two-way contract. Toscano-Anderson will join rookie Nico Mannion as Golden State’s pair of players on two-way contracts.
Following the 2020 trade deadline, the Warriors signed Toscano-Anderson to a non-guaranteed contract. The 27-year-old averaged 5.3 points on 46% shooting from the field with four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 13 games for the Warriors last season. Growing up in Castro Valley, Toscano-Anderson quickly became a fan favorite in the Bay Area.
Prior to joining the Warriors, Toscano-Anderson was a member of Golden State’s G League affiliate in Santa Cruz. After going undrafted out of Marquette in 2015, Toscano-Anderson played in Mexico and Venezuela. In 2018, Toscano-Anderson was named Mexico’s LNBP
Most Valuable Player.
With Toscano-Anderson back, Steve Kerr will have another versatile option that can play minutes at multiple positions. With Eric Paschall and Draymond Green sidelined during a preseason game against the Kings, Kerr gave Toscano-Anderson the start at power forward. With Green injured to start the season, Toscano-Anderson can provide depth behind Paschall, Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr.
