Warriors acquire No. 44 pick in 2022 NBA draft, select Toledo’s Ryan Rollins

After acquiring the No. 44 overall pick from the Atlanta Hawks in the 2022 NBA draft, the Warriors selected Toledo’s Ryan Rollins in the second round.

After selecting Patrick Baldwin Jr. in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors weren’t done.

The Warriors got back into the draft by acquiring the No. 44 overall selection from the Atlanta Hawks. With Bob Myers and Steve Kerr back on the clock, Golden State added guard Ryan Rollins out of Toledo in the second round.

Rollins spent two seasons at Toledo, averaging 16.4 points on 45.3% shooting from the floor with 5.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 64 total games. In his sophomore season, the 19-year-old averaged 18.9 points on 46.8% shooting from the field and 31.1% shooting from beyond the arc with six boards and 3.6 assists in 34 games.

Against Coastal Carolina, Rollins caught fire, scoring 35 points on 12-of-20 shooting from the floor with four triples, four boards, three steals and an assist in 34 minutes. 

On the way to leading Toledo to a MAC regular-season championship, Rollins was named to the All-MAC first team.

Along with first-round pick Baldwin Jr., Rollins will slide in with Golden State’s young core that features Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody and James Wiseman.
