Walk-on linebacker Tatum Grass placed on full scholarship

Former in-state walk-on LB placed on full scholarship by the Badgers:

On Wednesday, former in-state walk-on linebacker Tatum Grass was rightfully placed on full scholarship by head coach Paul Chryst and his coaching staff.

Largely seen as a core special teams player the past two seasons, Grass has appeared in 19 games over the past two seasons.

According to PFF, the Holmen, Wisconsin native played 63 total snaps last season (32 in coverage) – registering nine tackles.

The 6-foot-2, 232-pound inside backer is the latest in a long line of former in-state walk-ons that have exceeded expectations and gone on to become significant on-field contributors.

It’s also worth noting that Grass worked with the first team defense throughout the spring, and will enter fall camp as a presumed favorite to start at inside linebacker.
