Vols set record for longest win streak to open SEC play since 1992 expansion.

No. 1 Tennessee came from behind to extend its winning streak to 22 games and keeping a perfect Southeastern Conference record intact Saturday.

The Volunteers (30-1, 11-0 SEC) overcame a 4-3 deficit to defeat Missouri, 11-4, at Lindsey Nelson Stadium before an announced crowd of 4,249.

The Tigers (18-10, 3-8 SEC) led 2-0 in the first inning as Luke Mann and Torin  Montgomery hit solo home runs.

Tennessee scored three runs in the second inning as Trey Lipscomb, Jorel Ortega and Evan Russell recorded home runs in the frame to take a 3-2 lead.

Missouri regained the lead in the third inning as Montgomery drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Fox Leum produced an RBI double.

The Vols took the lead when Jordan Beck hit a grand slam in the sixth inning.

In the seventh inning, Jared Dickey’s two-run single extended UT’s advantage to 9-4 before Lipscomb drew a walk with the bases loaded.

Tennessee scored its final run of the game when Luc Lipcius came home on a wild pitch in the eighth inning.

Vols’ starter Chase Dollander (6-0) pitched 6.2 innings and surrendered four runs and seven hits. He finished with 10 strikeouts.

Mark McLaughlin and Kirby Connell appeared in relief for Tennessee.

Tennessee has tied the best start all time in SEC history with its 11th consecutive victory to start the conference play. The Vols already own the longest win streak to start SEC play since the league expanded in 1992. LSU (1991), Ole Miss (1964) and Alabama (1940) all started SEC play 11-0.
