Vols’ linebacker chooses transfer destination

Vols’ linebacker chooses transfer destination.

Sophomore linebacker Ethan Rinke entered the NCAA transfer portal in October.

“I want to thank all the coaches and my teammates at Tennessee,” Rinke said. “I have learned a lot and will always have wonderful memories. I have entered the transfer portal.”

Rinke has since transferred to South Alabama to continue his collegiate career. South Alabama recently hired Kane Wommack as its next head coach.

Rinke came to Tennessee a walk-on from Athens High School in Athens, Alabama.

He did not appear in any games as a freshman in 2019. As a senior at Athens, Rinke totaled 70 tackles, 16 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.
