Vols’ pitcher JD McCracken records first save with Martha’s Vineyard.

Tennessee freshman pitcher JD McCracken is playing with the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks of the the New England Collegiate Baseball League.

The NECBL was founded in 1993 and is a 14-team collegiate summer baseball league using wood bats.

McCracken recorded his first save with Martha’s Vineyard on June 9 against the Ocean State Waves. He pitched three innings, surrendering one hit and zero walks, while striking out three against 10 batters.

The 6-foot-3, 202-pound McCracken came to Tennessee from Middle Tennessee Christian School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He appeared in one game for the Vols in 2022, recording two strikeouts, one walk and three earned runs.
