DALLAS — Throughout its storied history, the University of Tennessee football program has had some great teams.

The Volunteers have appeared in 54 postseason bowl games and several players and coaches are in bowl game Halls of Fame.

This installment will look at Vols who are in the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame.

Three men with ties to the University of Tennessee have been recognized by the Cotton Bowl, which is played in Dallas, Texas.

Broadcaster Lindsey Nelson is enshrined in the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame.

Nelson is enshrined in the bowl game hall along with running backs Andy Kozar and Hank Lauricella.

Nelson, the longtime Voice of the Vols, was also the Voice of the Cotton Bowl, calling 26 editions of the Cotton Bowl on television or radio. He also worked for Notre Dame and the New York Mets.

He was inducted in the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame in 2000.

Kozar rushed for 92 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries in the 1952 Cotton Bowl.

Lauricella was an All-American in 1951 and had a 75-yard scamper in 1952 against the Texas Longhorns. He did not score on the run, but he reversed field three times.

Both Kozar and Lauricella were inducted into the Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame in 2005.

Tennessee has appeared in the Cotton Bowl five times, posting a 2-3 record.

The Vols last played in the game on Jan. 1, 2005, when they routed Texas A&M, 38-7.
