Josh Heupel enters his head coaching position at Tennessee with Southeastern Conference experience.
Heupel served as Missouri’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2016-17 before accepting his first head coaching position at UCF.
He was 28-8 in three seasons as UCF’s head coach.
“The line of scrimmage in this league is different than it is in other leagues, so you have to do a great job of recruiting and developing those guys,” Heupel said of competing in the SEC. “That size and strength matters up front, you have to do a great job.
“You’re going to face elite pass rushers in this league, so you have to do a great job of protecting your quarterback as well, just from an offensive standpoint. I think the line of scrimmage is the biggest difference.”
