No. 5 Tennessee advanced to the Southeastern Conference Tournament with a 4-1 victory over Georgia Friday.
The Volunteers (22-6) captured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches at Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia.
Tennessee’s doubles tandem of Adam Walton and Pat Harper outlasted Tristan McCormick and Hamish Stewart of the Bulldogs (17-7), 6-4.
Mark Wallner and Johannus Monday defeated Blake Croyder and Erik Grevelius, 6-4.
In singles, Walton toppled Stewart, 6-1,7-5 at No. 1 .
Monday also prevailed in singles as he defeated Philip Henning, 6-3, 6-4. Shunsuke Mitsui defeated Trent Bryde, 6-2, 6-4.
With its win over Georgia, the Vols advance to the tournament semifinals against No. 3 Florida Saturday at 2 p.m. EDT.
