The Volunteers have gone 6-1 in games contested on Sept. 19. They are a perfect 6-0 at home on this date.

Tennessee first played on Sept. 19 in 1964. On that day, the Big Orange hosted in-state rival Chattanooga and edged the Mocs, 10-6.

The Vols hosted Southern Methodist University on this date in 1970 and routed the Mustangs, 28-3.

In 1981, Colorado State came to Knoxville and the Vols notched a shutout victory over the Rams, prevailing 42-0.

The Vols have played Southeastern Conference Eastern Division rival Florida three three times on Sept. 19 and they have a winning record against the Gators on this date, going 2-1.

In 1992, the Vols beat Florida 31-14.

In 1998, Tennessee snapped a long losing streak against the Gators when it captured a 20-17 thrilling overtime victory on its way to an undefeated season and the first-ever BCS national championship.

The Big Orange last played on Sept. 19 in 2015. Tennessee routed Western Carolina, 55-10, at Neyland Stadium.
