Vols Wire is looking at each calendar date that Tennessee has played on in the program history.
September 15
The Volunteers have played seven times on Sept. 15 and have a record of 5-2 in games contested on that date.
The Big Orange first played on Sept. 15 in 1973. The Vols played Duke at Neyland Stadium and outlasted the Blue Devils, 21-17.
In 1979, UT made a trip to Boston College to play the Eagles. The Vols left Chestnut Hill with a 28-16 victory.
In 1984, The Vols played Utah on Rocky Top as they edged the Utes, 27-21.
In 1990, the Volunteers notched a 56-0 win over UTEP at Neyland Stadium. It was the first of two victories over the Miners on Sept. 15.
The Big Orange nabbed a 24-0 win over UTEP in 2018. That was the last time the Vols played a game on Sept. 15.
The Vols’ suffered their only two losses on Sept. 15 in Southeastern Conference games against Florida.
In 2007, the Gators beat Tennessee 37-20 in Gainesville.
