Vols Wire is looking at each calendar date that Tennessee has played on in its program history.

The Volunteers have played 13 times on Oct. 27 and they have enjoyed success, going 11-2 in games contested on that date.

UT, however, has lost the last two games it has played on Oct. 27. The Vols lost to South Carolina, 38-35, in 2012 under head coach Derek Dooley. Tennessee also lost to the Gamecocks, 27-24, in 2018 with Jeremy Pruitt as its head coach.

The Volunteers first played on Oct. 27 in 1923 when they edged Mississippi A&M, 7-3.

In 1928, UT routed Washington & Lee 26-7. The Vols outlasted Duke, 14-6, in 1934.

The Volunteers nabbed a 33-2 victory over Villanova in 1945.

In 1951, the Vols notched a 68-0 win over Tennessee Tech. In 1956, UT downed Maryland 34-6. The Vols toppled Chattanooga, 48-14, in 1962.

Tennessee beat Texas Christian, 39-7, in 1973.

In 1984, the Big Orange edged Georgia Tech 24-21. The Vols defeated South Carolina, 17-10, in 2001.

In 2007, Tennessee edged the Gamecocks 27-24 in overtime.
