The Vols first played on Oct. 23 in 1897 when they beat Williamsburg, 6-0.
In 1909, UT lost to Georgia 3-0. The Volunteers routed Cumberland, 101-0, in 1915.
In 1920, the Vols blanked Clemson 26-0.
The Vols defeated Centre College, 30-7, in 1926. In 1937, the Big Orange shut out University of the South, 32-0. The Volunteers routed Tennessee Tech, 41-0, in 1948.
In 1954, UT edged Dayton 14-7. 1965 saw the Vols earn a 17-8 victory over Houston.
In 1971, Mississippi State and Tennessee tangled in Memphis with the Big Orange capturing a 10-7 victory.
Florida outlasted the Vols, 20-18, in 1976.
In 1982, Georgia Tech toppled Tennessee 31-21. In 1999, Tennessee routed Alabama 21-7. 2004 saw the Vols edge the Crimson Tide, 17-13.
Tennessee last played on Oct. 23 in 2010 when it lost to Alabama, 41-10.
