KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee first fielded a football team in 1891.

The Volunteers have played 12 times on October 14, amassing a record of 8-3-1 on that date.

UT first played on Oct. 14 in 1905 when it tied Clemson, 5-5.

In 1911, the Vols lost to Georgia Tech 24-0. The Vols shut out Clemson, 14-0, in 1916.

In 1922, Tennessee blanked Camp Benning 15-0. Duke outlasted the Vols, 10-2, in 1933.

1939 saw the Big Orange nab a 28-0 victory over Chattanooga.

In 1944, the Vols routed Florida 40-0. Tennessee posted a 40-0 victory over Chattanooga in 1950.

In 1961, Tennessee routed Tulsa 52-6. In 1967, UT played Georgia Tech and outlasted the Yellow Jackets 24-13.

The Volunteers beat Alabama, 41-14, in 1995 in Birmingham.

Tennessee last played on Oct. 13 in 2017 when it lost to South Carolina, 15-9.
