The Volunteers have played 16 times in games contested on Oct. 12 and they have gone 11-5 on that date.
Tennessee last played on Oct. 12 in 2019 and the Vols outlasted Mississippi State, 20-10, at Neyland Stadium.
The Big Orange first played on this date in 1901 when it edged King, 8-0.
In 1907, the Vols shut out Georgia 15-0. UT routed Maryville College, 38-0, in 1912.
1929 saw the Volunteers down Ole Miss, 52-7. In 1935, the Vols edged Auburn 13-6 in Birmingham.
Tennessee has played Chattanooga three times on Oct. 12 and have defeated the Mocs in every contest.
In 1940, the Vols won 53-0. In 1946, UT prevailed 47-7. The Vols also won, 28-13, in 1957.
1963 saw the Vols lose to Georgia Tech, 23-7.
In 1974, Tennessee lost to LSU 20-10. Florida outlasted the Vols, 17-10, in 1985. The Gators defeated the Vols, 35-18, in 1991.
In 1996, Tennessee knocked off Georgia 29-17. Georgia outlasted the Big Orange, 18-13, in 2002.
