KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee first fielded a football team in 1891.

When the Volunteers take the field against Georgia in Athens today, they will hope to continue a winning tradition on Oct. 10.

Kickoff for the game is slated for 3:30 p.m. EDT.

Tennessee has played 17 times on this date, amassing a record of 14-3.

Today marks the fourth time that the Big Orange has collided with the Bulldogs on Oct. 10.

The Vols have won all three games against Georgia on Oct. 10.

UT won, 22-3, in 1998. The Vols prevailed, 45-19, in 2009 and they edged the Bulldogs, 38-31, in 2015.

The Vols first played on this date in 1900 when they beat King, 22-0. In 1903, UT blanked Carson-Newman 38-0. The Vols routed Maryville College, 39-5, in 1908.

In 1914, Tennessee shut out Clemson 27-0. 1925 saw the Big Orange defeat Maryville, 13-0.

The Volunteers nabbed a 38-0 victory over Ole Miss in 1931.

In 1936, the Vols fell to Auburn 6-0. In 1942, Tennessee downed Dayton 34-6. UT routed Chattanooga, 40-7, in 1953.

Georgia Tech outlasted the Volunteers, 14-7, in 1959. The Vols edged Boston College, 16-14, in 1964.

UT toppled the Yellow Jackets, 17-6, in 1970. The Vols also beat Georgia Tech, 10-7, in 1981.

Arkansas outlasted the Vols, 25-24, in 1992.
