KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee first fielded a football team in 1891.

Vols Wire is looking at each calendar date that Tennessee has played on in its program history.

The Volunteers have played 16 games on Nov. 2 and have enjoyed success, posting a 12-4 victory on that date.

UT last played on Nov. 2 in 2019 when they defeated UAB, 30-7, at Neyland Stadium.

The Vols first played on Nov. 2 in 1892 when they lost to University of the South, 10-0. Tennessee came up on the short end of a 6-0 decision against Kentucky University in 1901.

In 1907, the Vols routed Chattanooga 57-0. The Big Orange posted a 67-0 victory over Centre College in 1912.

In 1929, the Vols defeated Auburn 27-0. Duke defeated Tennessee, 19-6, in 1935.

In 1940, the Vols blanked LSU 28-0.

The Volunteers edged North Carolina, 20-14, in 1946. Tennessee tangled with the Tar Heels again in 1957 and UT earned a 35-0 victory.

In 1968, Tennessee toppled UCLA 42-28. In 1985, the Vols routed Rutgers 40-0.

The Volunteers downed Memphis State, 52-24, in 1991. In 1996, the Vols beat South Carolina 31-14. In 2002, Tennessee outlasted the Gamecocks 18-10.

In 2013, the Vols lost to Missouri 31-3.
