Vol Network to re-air 1998 victory over Florida.

KNOXVILLE — Vol Network Classics is back Saturday with another iconic win in the University of Tennessee’s illustrious football history.

This week’s broadcast will be the Volunteers’ 20-17 overtime victory over Florida during the 1998 season.

The Gators entered the contest as the No. 2 team in the country. The Vols, meanwhile, were No. 6.

The Vols snapped their 5-game losing streak to Florida when Gators’ kicker Collins Cooper missed a field goal attempt that would have extended the contest. The play resulted in one of John Ward’s classic calls.

Tennessee’s Jeff Hall made a field goal on the Big Orange’s opening overtime possession.

The Vols defense came up big, forcing Florida into four lost fumbles. Two were recovered by Al Wilson.

Tennessee also held Florida to minus-13 yards rushing.

Offensively, Shawn Bryson had a 57-yard touchdown scamper.

The game will be broadcast on WNML-FM 99.1 and WNML-AM 990 at noon (ET) and Ward will be on the call.
