The contest was truly one for the ages on the Third Saturday in October.

In the game, the Volunteers, led by sophomore quarterback Peyton Manning, thumped the Crimson Tide 41-14 in Birmingham. The win ended a long losing streak to the Crimson Tide and reversing Tennessee’s fortunes in the heated rivalry, which remains prevalent on the NCAA football scene today as the Vols and Crimson Tide remain permanent SEC foes, although the two historic programs are playing in different divisions.

Alabama again has the upper hand in the series, but in 1995, Tennessee dominated the Tide from the outset as Manning threw a long touchdown pass to Huntsville, Ala. native Joey Kent on the first play from scrimmage.

From there, the Volunteers would go on to win nine of the next 10 games in the series.

The game will re-air in Knoxville on Saturday at noon (ET) on WNML-AM 990 and on WNML-EM 99.1.

The re-air will feature the late John Ward on the call.
