KNOXVILLE — The college sports world might have been brought to a screeching halt by the COVID-19 pandemic, but University of Tennessee sports fans can relive some great moments in Big Orange football and basketball history through Leafield IMG College and the Vol Network.
The next installment airs at noon (ET) on Knoxville’s WNML-AM 990 and WNML-FM 99.1 as the network re-airs the 1986 Sugar Bowl where Johnny Majors routed one of his former assistants, Miami’s Jimmy Johnson, 35-7.

The Vols fell behind early when the Hurricanes, who entered the game with a 10-1 record, scored first on a touchdown pass from Vinny Testaverde.
Tennessee scored 35 unanswered points playing with backup quarterback Daryl Dickey.
Dickey went 15-for-25 and totaled 131 yards and a touchdown. He won the Miller-Digby Award as the game’s Most Valuable Player.
Wide receiver Tim McGee had seven receptions for the Vols, who entered the game at 9-1-2 and won the Southeastern Conference championship, one of three conference titles for Majors.
