The UFC is in search of a new opponent for [autotag]Mariya Agapova[/autotag].
Days prior to the event, Agapova’s original opponent [autotag]Melissa Gatto[/autotag] has withdrawn from the Saturday event due to visa issues. The promotion is currently seeking a replacement and Agapova (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is expected to remain on the card.
A person with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie on Saturday. The person asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Cageside Press was the first to report the news.
Gatto (6-0-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) signed with the UFC in late 2018 but has yet to make her promotional debut. Four times she has been booked for her UFC debut – and four times her fights have been canceled.
As for Agapova, the Kazakhstani made stops on Dana White’s Contender Series and Invicta FC en route to her UFC signing earlier this year. Agapova’s lone professional loss came by decision against Tracy Cortez on DWCS, Season 3 in July 2019.
