Virtual offseason has kept Cardinals ‘locked in,’ says Christian Kirk

“It was like we picked up right where we left off from.”

The Arizona Cardinals, like all NFL teams this offseason, have been unable to hold their normal programs. There has been no work done on the field with restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. Everything has been done virtually.

However, according to receiver Christian Kirk, the Cardinals won’t be unprepared mentally for the season.

“We know it’s going to be shorter than normal, but I think we just have to be efficient with it,” he said in a video conference with reporters. “Thankfully, with our virtual meetings, everybody has been so locked in and ready to work every time we hop on to the meetings.”

He indicated it would be easy for players to get off track and talk about other things or to even turn the video and microphone off and even do other things, but they have been focused.

All the way back to the beginning of the virtual offseason in their first install of this year’s offense, “we were straight to business and it was like we picked up right where we left off from.”

He said being able to see exactly what they did wrong with certain things last year has been helpful.

The Cardinals have goals to make big improvements in 2020. They won’t have as much time on the field to do it and potentially a shortened preseason. This offseason focus will show early in the season if it has been as good as Kirk said.
