If Jefferson doesn’t start the season as the team’s WR2, it could be an uphill battle for him in 2020.

The Vikings are hoping to get solid production from first-round pick Justin Jefferson in 2020 after trading Stefon Diggs this offseason.

Over at Pro Football Focus, Anthony Treash put a list together of 10 rookies who need to get off to a hot start in 2020.

Jefferson was on the list, although Treash doesn’t seem super optimistic.

Here’s a bit of what Treash wrote about Jefferson:

Jefferson had always been a prospect who we thought to be slightly overhyped due to his outlier type of production with Joe Burrow and, perhaps, one of the best offenses college football has ever seen in the 2019 LSU Tigers. We don’t hate the pick for the Vikings, but we just aren’t as high on it as everyone else.

It would be helpful to have preseason games so we could see Jefferson’s development and whether he’s ready or not to be the team’s WR2 heading into the season.

If he’s not, that should probably be considered a disappointment and Jefferson’s expectations in 2020 will take a huge dip.
