Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen ranks among top wide receivers in passer rating when targeted

Despite a 2019 marred by a hamstring injury, when Adam Thielen was targeted, he still made his quarterback look good.

Adam Thielen is coming off a season where he played in just 10 regular season games.

Thielen suffered a hamstring injury that led to him missing significant time. However, the wideout still earned high marks from Pro Football Focus in a certain stat: passer rating when targeted among wide receivers.

Thielen ranked third among wide receivers in that category with a rating of 131.9 on passes in which he was targeted.

Here’s what PFF said about the ranking:

“Adam Thielen also appears on the list despite a relative down year for him by virtue of the fact that Kirk Cousins didn’t throw a single interception on passes where Thielen was the target.”

Cousins’ performance when passing to Thielen bodes well for next season. The team lost its leading receiver from 2019 in Stefon Diggs, but a healthier Thielen can help make up for some of Diggs’ lost production.

For his 2019 performance, Diggs showed up on PFF’s list for yards per route. He ranked second in that category.
