Vikings trade down in The Ringer’s NFL mock draft

The Vikings make a move with the Cardinals in Danny Kelly’s latest mock draft at The Ringer.

The Vikings are set to pick 14th in Thursday’s NFL Draft.

What will they do? We all know that Vikings GM Rick Spielman won’t be afraid to move down, and that’s what The Ringer’s Danny Kelly has him doing in his latest mock draft.

Kelly has the Vikings trading from 14 to the Cardinals in exchange for pick 16, pick 160, plus a 2022 third-round pick.

With the 16th pick, Kelly has the Vikings drafting Miami defensive end Jaelan Phillips.

Here’s what Kelly wrote about the pick:

After swapping spots with the Cardinals, the Vikings net a couple extra picks and they still get the guy I had them targeting at the no 14 spot. Phillips comes with some medical concerns―he retired from football briefly early in his college career because of concussion and wrist injuries―but there’s little doubt he’s one of the most talented pass rushers in this class. He’d pair nicely with Danielle Hunter on Minnesota’s line.

The two huge needs for the Vikings going into the draft are on the offensive line and at defensive end opposite Danielle Hunter. This is a move that would address one of those issues.
