Vikings’ T.J. Hockenson shares what makes Sam Darnold great

The veteran TE shares why Sam Darnold is having the great season that he’s having.

When Sam Darnold signed a one-year deal to quarterback the Vikings this past offseason, not many people thought the former top-five pick would have an MVP-caliber year. Darnold has helped guide the Vikings to an 11-2 record and battling for the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.

Tight end T.J. Hockenson appeared on the Gojo and Golic Show and Hockenson described what makes Darnold the quarterback that he’s become in 2024.

“I think he is one of those people that is very steady,” said Hockenson. “When things are going great — he’s still the same exact person. When things are going the way we don’t want them to go, then he’s still the same person. When there’s 4th and whatever I got to have it…he’s not overly, nervous or anything. He’s just like, let’s go, the same exact person as he was on the 1st and 10.”

Darnold has thrown for 3,299 yards and 28 touchdowns so far this season for Minnesota.
