Vikings take S Grant Delpit in 1st-round of Bucky Brooks’ mock draft

With the 25th overall pick, Brooks has the Vikings selecting LSU safety Grant Delpit.

Bucky Brooks over at NFL.com put together his first mock of the 2020 offseason.

With the 25th overall pick, Brooks has the Vikings selecting LSU safety Grant Delpit.

Here’s what Brooks wrote about the pick:

Despite questions about his tackling ability, Delpit would upgrade the speed and athleticism in the Vikings’ secondary.

Delpit is fresh off of a national championship with LSU as a junior. Last season, he had 65 tackles (4.5 for loss), two interceptions and two sacks. He was an 2018 All-American and won the 2019 Jim Thorpe Award for the best defensive back in the NCAA.

It’s an interesting pick for the Vikings. With Harrison Smith, they already have one of the best safeties in the league. This pick would likely assume the Vikings don’t re-sign Anthony Harris, who is an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Harris has been one of the best safeties in the league over the last two years.
