Vikings spending more money on defensive backs than any other position group

The Vikings’ defensive backs are the team’s most expensive position group, according to Touchdown Wire

Minnesota has a new-look defensive back corps in 2020, but some of the more veteran players help the position group add up to being the team’s most expensive.

Our friends at Touchdown Wire determined which position group each team spent the most on. It determined that Minnesota spent $30.1 million on the defensive backs. Here’s what it said about the Vikings defensive backs:

“The Minnesota Vikings have four position groups totaling more than $25M each. Throw in quarterbacks at $22.5M, and you have a fairly balanced cap. The top dogs are the DBs, who are at $30.1M, 600K more than the LBs. Anthony Harris and Harrison Smith can count on more than $22M between them.”

It seems like if the Vikings give Harris a new deal, that he would still be a pretty costly player. If Minnesota secures Smith and Harris back deep for the long term, the Vikings defensive backs are better as a whole, but at what cost? A whole lot of money, most likely.
