Vikings set to play in their 1,000th game on Saturday vs. Colts

Saturday’s game is a milestone for the Vikings

In 1961, the Minnesota Vikings kicked off the franchise in style. They defeated the Chicago Bears by a score of 37-13 in what was a 3-11 inaugural season. They didn’t really sniff success until Bud Grant took over before the 1967 season. He led them to four Super Bowls and the most success that the Vikings have had in franchise history.

On Saturday afternoon, the Vikings are set to play in their 1,000th game. They have had a remarkable run in their 62 seasons with their record sitting at 534-454-11.

The Vikings have had a lot of tumultuous moments throughout their tenure, including the Love Boat, multiple playoff disappointments and the Metrodome collapsing, but getting to game 1,000 is a special milestone for a team that almost move to Arkansas, San Antonio, Los Angeles and Las Vegas on separate occasions.

Enjoy it Vikings fans.
