Vikings S Harrison Smith ranked No. 1 safety in Madden 21, S Anthony Harris snubbed from top 10

The Vikings’ Harrison Smith is the top-rated safety in Madden 21, but safety Anthony Harris didn’t crack the top 10.

EA Sports released rankings for the top-10 safeties in Madden 21, and the game had a Vikings safety highly rated. Well, at least one Vikings safety.

Minnesota defensive back Harrison Smith earned the highest grade of any NFL safety for the upcoming game. He earned an overall score of 95. Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu was close behind at 93 overall.

But what about Anthony Harris? The Vikings have another safety who is considered to be among the top safeties in the NFL. Pro Football Focus has given Harris a coverage grade of 93.5 since 2018, which is first among all safeties, PFF said on its Vikings Twitter account.

He is coming off a 2019 season in which he had six interceptions, tied for an NFL best. However, Harris did not crack the top-10 for safeties in Madden 21.

Madden ratings are tricky because they probably shouldn’t be a legacy award, but it’s hard to determine how much recent success can translate into consistency in future seasons. That said, there are not 10 safeties in the NFL I’d rather have than Harris. I think that’s what it should probably boil down to.

Recently, the deadline passed for Harris and the Vikings to work out a long-term deal in 2020.
