Vikings reach injury settlement with S Luther Kirk

Luther Kirk, who was waived with an injury designation, has reached an injury settlement with the Vikings.

The Vikings waived Luther Kirk with an injury designation on Tuesday, then Minnesota and the safety reached an injury settlement.

Minnesota paid Kirk, who suffered a hamstring injury, for the first four weeks of the season, according to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press.

Three weeks after that, Kirk is eligible to return to the team or find another NFL destination. For the Vikings, he’s either depth at safety on the active roster, or more of an option for the practice squad.

As of now, the Vikings have safeties Harrison Smith, Xavier Woods,
Josh Metellus and Camryn Bynum on the active roster. I don’t really see Kirk beating out any of those players, but maybe an injury could help him land a roster spot. The team has Myles Dorn as the only safety on the practice squad.
