Vikings RB Dalvin Cook tells TMZ he wants 2,000 yards in 2020. Will he get there?

Dalvin Cook has set the bar high for next season.

Vikings running back Dalvin Cook totaled 1,135 rushing yards and 519 receiving yards in 2019-20. Cook thinks he can get those numbers up next season.

“2,000 yards,” Cook told TMZ Wednesday. “We could go like a 1,500 [rushing] and a 500 [receiving] … or 1,400, 600.”

Not only did Cook set a lofty goal, he also might have given Vikings fans comfort about his current contract situation. Despite having one more year on his contract, there have been rumors that Cook might want an extension this season as opposed to next.

“See me back out there, what do you mean?” Cook told TMZ. “The business is going to handle the business.”

This is  a promising quote, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not exactly confirmation that Cook wouldn’t want a contract extension this season. Hopefully, Cook doesn’t hold out for an extension, because the team is already in trouble with the salary cap, and has to sign players around Cook in the offseason.
