Minnesota has utilized a run-heavy offense as of late. For that style to work, it helps to have a player like Dalvin Cook.
Cook put up big numbers in 2019, then followed that up with an improved 2020. He had more than 1,100 rushing yards and more than 12 rushing touchdowns in each of the last two seasons.
Our friends at Touchdown Wire think Cook is the No. 3 running back in the league. Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire wrote:
“Cook forced 68 missed tackles last season, and gained 1,039 yards after contact — he and Henry were the only backs to break the 1,000 yards after contact barrier last season. With his vision and acceleration, Cook might be the best inside/outside zone runner in the league, which perfectly fits Minnesota’s preferred running styles.”
Cook’s explosiveness and breakaway speed have been vital to the Vikings these past two seasons. If he can stay relatively healthy in 2021, Minnesota’s offense could pick up right where it left off from last year.
