Earlier today, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Vikings RB Dalvin Cook was trending towards playing.
The Minnesota running back continues to trend in that positive direction. According to Pelissero, Cook wants to go and barring any kind of an issue regarding medical clearance, that is the plan.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter has more information. Schefter tweeted that Cook will play vs. the Steelers with a shoulder harness. The Vikings running back will maintain his usual workload, per Schefter.
Cook has 773 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground this year. The Vikings could use Cook for their run-heavy offense, so these recent reports come as a good sign. Minnesota has RB Alexander Mattison as more-than-capable depth for 2021. Mattison had 90 yards rushing and a touchdown against the Lions when Cook was out.
Beyond that, the Vikings can use Kene Nwangwu, a speedy back who could offer something in the receiving game.
