Vikings RB Dalvin Cook feels good after ankle injury

“That bye week was necessary,” Vikings RB Dalvin Cook said.

The Vikings are a run-heavy team that relies heavily on its primary back, Dalvin Cook.

These last few weeks, Cook has gone through problems familiar to many running backs in the NFL with a heavy workload: He’s dealt with nagging injury issues. He first suffered an ankle injury in the Week 2 loss to the Cardinals this year.

This week, though, Cook said he feels good. He played through the ankle injury during the Panthers game in Week 6. He finished with 140 rushing yards and a touchdown on 29 carries.

“I feel good. That bye week was necessary,” Cook said, via ESPN’s Courtney Cronin. “No setbacks.”

Cook’s services might not be as necessary for Week 8. Minnesota plays a Dallas team with a high-octane offense. And the Cowboys are expected to have Dak Prescott healthy enough to play.

The Vikings could very well be in a shootout with the Cowboys. But if they have to close out a game near the end, it would help to have one of the best backs in the NFL. Cook feeling good is a good sign.
