Vikings rank eighth in ESPN Power Rankings

Minnesota has lost some talent in the offseason, but ESPN still considers the Vikings a top-10 team.

The Vikings have lost a lot of talent in the offseason, but ESPN doesn’t think the team will drop off significantly.

The outlet ranked the Vikings No. 8 overall in its power rankings. In the power rankings, ESPN mentions a loss of talent in free agency.

Here’s what else it said:

“The defense is in the midst of a reboot, and Minnesota will need to hit on its draft picks this year in hopes that a first- or second-round cornerback can aid a group that lost all of its starters and find a defensive end to begin to replace what Griffen brought over 10 years in Minnesota.”

These rankings have been more hopeful than some of the recent ones that have been released. People look at the Stefon Diggs trade and think that the team is going to drop off a ton, but I think that’s a bit of recency bias, and the Vikings can replace Diggs’ production with a good draft pick, Tajae Sharpe, and Bisi Johnson in a bigger role.
