Vikings QB Sam Darnold named NFC Player of the Month

After signing with the Minnesota Vikings for what everyone expected to be a bridge deal, Sam Darnold finds himself among the best in the NFL. It may be just one month’s worth of games, but no one can deny that he has played like one of, if not the best, quarterbacks in the NFL.

On Thursday, the NFL named Sam Darnold its NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September.

He passed for 932 yards and 11 touchdowns while leading the Vikings to a 4-0 start on the year. Heading into Thursday, Darnold was leading the NFL in both of those categories. With that start both as a team and individually, Darnold finds himself at the center of most of the MVP conversation as the calendar turns to October.

Darnold starts his run at being Player of the Month for October on Sunday when the Vikings face off against the New York Jets in London.
