Vikings OC Gary Kubiak not concerned about Dalvin Cook’s readiness

Is Gary Kubiak worried about Dalvin Cook’s readiness? “Dalvin could teach class. He’s that bright and that smart of a football player.”

Dalvin Cook is reportedly refraining from team-related activities until he receives a new contract.

That, in addition to straying away from the usual practice routine amid the coronavirus pandemic, might make some coaches worry about Cook being good to go for the season opener. Not Gary Kubiak.

The Vikings offensive coordinator said he’s not concerned about Cook’s readiness for the game against the Packers on Sept. 13.

“Dalvin could teach class. He’s that bright and that smart of a football player,” Kubiak told the Star Tribune’s Andrew Krammer and other reporters. “It’s part of the business, and guys like him, professionals like him take care of themselves. You understand they’re going to go through things like this and we all want the end product, so to speak, and go back to work, but those things take time.”

Cook is coming off a season where he had 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns. However, Cook has had injury concerns in the past, missing 19 NFL games in his three-year career so far.
