Vikings LB Cameron Smith on practicing again: ‘I was excited to feel that’

Minnesota Vikings LB Cameron Smith is back in action after finding out he had a congenital heart condition last offseason.

Last offseason, Vikings linebacker Cameron Smith said on Instagram he didn’t realize he had a congenital heart condition until he tested positive for COVID-19.

Smith had to sit out 2020, but now that OTAs have come around, the linebacker is back to practicing with his team. He recently talked about his return with Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press:

“It was interesting because leading up to this, I was unsure what the feeling was going to be like,” Smith told Tomasson.“I was excited to feel that again, but when it came down to running out there, it felt like I hadn’t missed a beat. It just felt like almost home again.”

This past season, the Vikings struggled with linebacker depth. Losing Eric Wilson this offseason affects things, but players like Smith and free agent addition Nick Vigil should provide some insurance.
